After quite a bit of fiddling, I managed to get this whole set up to work. I’m now blogging from Emacs.
Figure 1: Yes, I’m slowly turning into a penguin.
This is obviously more complicated than just using the WordPress interface but I like being able to blog (mostly) without leaving my editor. That being said, things are going to be fairly basic until I get better at org-mode and org2blog.
I’ve changed roles recently, as I mentioned in my previous post. The role I am in now is much more technical and I work with many different tools. The key thing is that I’m pretty much allowed to set up my tool set without much interference from my boss or from “InfoSec”. I can bring in my own laptop, in addition to the one I was issued by the organization, to work with. This saved my behind once already when the hard drive failed on the work laptop.
Several of my colleagues are also from a technical background (as opposed to exclusively from healthcare) so they are very encouraging as well.
I have to say I’m completely nerding out. This is a very good thing.
